Characters should show age, wear and tear.....
I have a nearly-four year old character with over 4 million XP, and he still looks as baby-face fresh as the day he left pre-searing. You'd think after all his battles, campaigning and continent jumping (and the million foot-miles it takes to become a Master Mapper) that he'd at least have a stubble, maybe a scar or two, perhaps a slight limp, bags under the eyes, or even a beer belly??
Any thoughts of having characters evolve a slight change in appearance, say every million XP?
Just a thought.

ahaha... good idea man. I suprisingly like it, some battle scar or something would be epic. Sadly my assassin would look fked up if it was every million exp.... he has 24 million lol.

besides, what if someone didn't want his char to evolve and they liked him the way he is.. would they be forced to stop gaining exp with that char..?
(and female chars would look yucky with bags under eyes and beer bellies..! xP)

There should however be an option at character creation to have your character look whatever age you wish.

No noppes /notsigned.
I like my characters as they are, even after almost 4 years.
And besides that, I only like updates that may improve the fun of playing
the game... getting some scars wouldnt keep me goin

Imagine taking a break for 3 months and seeing all your characters overweight on the login screen.

It would be like GTA:SA where you ran around forever and a day trying to get rid of your belly or get food in the middle of a mission cos you were hungry

Not an easy thing to implement, and not something that would go over well. Taking scars based on the number of deaths or wrinkles based on age, etc. would make people hate the way their character looks, or stop doing things to allow those changes. This is a game, if you want reality, turn on the TV, not the computer. Neither show reality, but TV at least makes you think it does.

Lots of emphasis on Scars Beerbellys and sagging bodies.
People leading an active lifestyle like adventuring all day everyday not to mention always running would look good for a long time.
So I am not against characters starting at whatever age they like and ageing as the game progresses.
As long as its real time ageing so lets see my characters are just over 3 years into the game so If I started at 18 they are now 21.
If I keep playing GW another 20 years they should still look pretty good.
Anet could always add youth potions and spells for the peter pans of the game.
edit OOPS I forgot the searing, have to add those years to my characters age

Lol, that would be fun to see
Nice idea though, but i don't think it would work, and many would not like it at all.

nice idea, but it will push GW's graphic requirement pretty close to oblivion's, and cause most computers used by the playerbase to asplode.

They don't age because they are frozen in time, like everything in GW.
pre-Searing is frozen 8 years before the death of the Great Destroyer, The Wall if frozen 6 years before that, and so on.

MithranArkanere makes a valid point.
If characters age, then the environment would have to age with it. That's not possible in an MMO.
